NEWS & VIEWS

BUSY FALL!! This is certainly going to be one of the busiest Fall Seasons our club has had in recent years. September has already brought us a terrific monthly meeting with some awesome displays and great guest speakers. As one member who travels to a lot of other club’s meetings mentioned, the finds our members recover each month and put on display, rival any and all other clubs and what their members are finding. September was no exception and I feel the dedication and time spent in the field by our members, contributes greatly to each month’s success. Many of our members are very accomplished at using their detectors and the time spent searching only increases each one’s expertise. We welcome several new members that joined this past meeting. They are new to the hobby as well and I am sure will benefit greatly from the experience of our seasoned members who are always more than ready to share tips and techniques. The help we give each other goes a long way to contribute to any growth and success we have had in the past and will surely help considerably to keep our club improving.

Thanks to Jackie Walker for making the September meeting even more special, with her moving presentation about her search and recover dogs and her involvement at the Shanksville crash site back on Sept.11, 2001. Her presentation held each members attention and the display of awards her dogs and her have been given for the numerous times her and her group have volunteered their services to help others was inspiring. Our annual Fall Hunt on Sept. 22 was also another great success. The weather was warm, NO RAIN, and from the comments of all twenty plus members that participated, everyone had a fun time. Thanks to the members donations and finding business donations and the way our Hunt Master Terry Taylor planned and organized the various hunts, no one went home empty handed. Thanks Terry for a great job and thanks to all that helped with seeding as well as aiding in whatever needed done.

If all this was not enough, we have the FMDAC National Hunt and Expo coming up, the first week of November at Conley’s Resort near Butler of which we are the host club. A heavy, member participation from our club is expected and needed and I am sure you will be glad for whatever time you give towards this rare opportunity so close to home. Help with club activities is needed, a club information booth is planned, and all going well, I am sure some new members will find us at this event. Oh, enjoy the seeded hunts also as the FMDAC puts on the best anywhere.

With all that is going on during this busy Fall period, remember the October meeting will be the last displays for our Show & Tell and Coin Shooting contests. Hope to see ya at the next meeting, Best of Health and Detecting to All!!!

THOUGHT

One good reason for doing,

 the right thing today,

Is how you will be seen,

Tomorrow.

Best Wishes & God Bless,

BUTLER CLUB ANNUAL FALL HUNT

The Butler Metal Detecting Club’s fall hunt was held on Saturday September 22ND, 2007 on the Kathy Hilliard property.

My, My, What a beautiful day we had.  The blue skies and snowy white puffs of clouds and the green grass made it a very enjoyable day to be out with friends again.  I am sure everyone went home with more treasures than they came with.   Of course someone planted a gold ring in front of me for a joke. They thought I would get excited and yell all over about it. They forget that I have seen a lot and been through plenty so It is quite hard to get me excited with a phony gold ring.  Payback could be a rubber snake in the detecting pouch.

For those who did not make it we missed seeing you and are hoping you all can make the spring hunt. I knew Terry was good but I never knew he had good enough contacts to get the weather we dream about for this hunt..

Thanks to the hunt committee for an excellent day.
