GREAT FINDS: After missing the first two meetings of the year, it was great to be back. Thanks to all that do such a great job of keeping our club running smoothly. When you are away for a period of time, one often does not know what they are missing until you return. This holds true with most any aspect of our lives that we enjoy. Our club has a special place inside of me and getting back and taking part reminded me of just how special that place is. Seeing friends, hearing stories and viewing another month of Great Finds was really special.
The Show & Tell winners once again made some remarkable recoveries and it was not hard to see how they won top honors in each category. Still, those that did not place also had many great finds in their displays. Sometimes I wish everyone could win but that is not practical. Actually, everyone that attends our meetings I feel can be considered a winner just for taking part. I often reflect back on the way home or in a day or so and I always find I have gained insight or more knowledge towards our hobby which will help me to make my own great finds. I feel sure, most of you can relate to that also.
As we move on through this year, it should prove to be very memorable. I hope you make it a point to attend our Spring Hunt and Terry’s free hunt on June 16th. It looks to be another great time, a day filled with many surprises as well as a lot of fun. With 30 members already signed up, it should be a great day.
Also, our club will be the sponsor and host club for this years Fall FMDAC National Convention. This is not only an honor, but a great chance for The Butler County Treasure Hunters to showcase our club. Our club has prospered in recent years which is not necessarily a fate that a lot of other clubs are having. I feel what success we have or may continue to have, is a reflection on the way our club is run, and that begins with the consideration of the needs of each and every member and our memberships’ willingness to jump in and help as well as share those individual needs. Of course, an open mindedness from our officers as well as each member goes a long way to getting things done as well as promotes a healthy atmosphere. Oh, shame on me, I almost forgot to mention the most important thing that is vital to our club’s success, we like to have fun, fun, fun! Fall, will fast be upon us and I am sure our club will be a great host club and the help and participation our members will give, will be our greatest asset in showing our peers, just what The Butler County Treasure Hunters is all about.
Hope to see you all at Terry’s on June 16th, be safe when hunting, and the best of health to all. May your next find be a Top Prize in the next Show & Tell.

Unusual Finds
During Jacks outstanding display and talk about his unusual finds it was suggested that the members bring some of their unusual finds. There has to be some great stories and items that you have found over the years. They need not be rare or valuable and they need not be many, just one or several that you have enjoyed pulling off your shelf or out of a drawer to occasionally look at. Jacks display and talk was an unexpected and unusual addition to our meeting, so why not sharing with us some of your treasurers at a meeting.
A labor of love
The club approved the funding of a Butler County Treasurer Hunters Club scrap book. The book has been assembled by Janice Barrett. Jan had purchased a beautiful red, zippered scrap book. She has spent countless hours clipping, pasting, cutting, trimming and designing pages. This scrap book dates back over the years to the beginning of our club. It depicts many of the clubs events and has lots of photos of members from the past that many long time members will use to refresh their memories. With my being married to a scrap book club member (my Jan), I can say without hesitation that Jan Barrett has done a beautiful job and we thank her for her hard work long hours and dedication.

Water Hunting
It is finally here. The water hunting season has begun. It started at a very slow pace this year but has picked up a bit. The water has been cool and there was the e-coli thing about the goose poop which helped to slow down the finds. Maybe by the time this is posted things will really pick up. I have only heard of one golden treasure found in May.
Be Prepared
Please remember to wade slowly and if you are using chest waders to put a belt around your upper torso so if you take a dunkin you may have a good chance to survive. I always carried a quick release knife when I was wearing hip boots. Our hobby lost a very good friend and supporter a couple years ago when he stepped off a sand bar so it happens to the best of us
Please try to take out all the bottles, lids, tinfoil, trash and hot rocks that you scoop up. It makes no sense to keep digging them over and over.
Note: This newsletter is early so you will have it in time for the club Hunt.
