ONE OF A KIND: If you could not make it to the Terry Taylor property, near Emlenton for our annual Spring Hunt and Terry’s free hunt on June 16, I sincerely hope you will include it on your schedule for next year. 33 members showed up this year for a truly One of a Kind Day of detecting, great finds aplenty, scrumptious food and most of all, a great chance to spend time and get to know our fellow club members. If that was not enough, the weather was picture perfect also. A very special THANKS to Terry and his wife Sharon, for making this event happen. They both work very hard to prepare for the day and then do all they can to make sure that everyone present has everything they need to have an enjoyable day. Without a doubt, this hunt is the best Spring Hunt ever and the good news is, plans are in the making for the same next year. On a scale of 1 to 10, this hunt and day rates at least a 20 as this day is a One of a Kind. Thanks to all that donated prizes, brought food and helped seed the fields as well as just helping in anyway you could. A special thanks also to Ted Listek and Wendy’s for the food coupons. The free hunt in the woods after lunch, which is a great novel idea Terry came up with, is really the icing on the cake. Anyone can come and take part. Anyone can come and take part. This year, a number of young family members came and enjoyed with the rest of us, the casualness of hunting in the woods, around logs, rocks, trees and through the undergrowth and finding on literally every other step, coins, jewelry, various other surprises and remarkably, all for free.
This hunt goes a long way in showcasing some of the best parts of our hobby like the ability to give family members a common and enjoyable bond in a relaxing and non competitive atmosphere. What better way to promote the future of our hobby. Thanks again Terry!
The June meeting was once again, very enjoyable, well attended and the finds were super. From silver aplenty, to some very unique discoveries, I am still amazed at what our members find, month after month. Thanks to Clair Klingensmith for the nice talk on some of his recent finds in Florida. His display of jewelry certainly made most of us feel that we need to get to those beaches. The stories that went along were amazing and a joy to hear. Everyone is encouraged to bring your best or most unusual finds and share the stories of there recoveries.
With the warm days of summer upon us, here’s hoping we all can get out and swing that coil. Remember to drink plenty of liquids, especially on those hot days. May your finds be full of pleasant surprises? Best of luck and health to all!
THOUGHT
A heartfelt apology can’t change the past,
But it certainly can brighten the future
