END OF THE YEAR!! Once again, the end of another great and successful year for our club has become history. It is really hard at times to believe just how fast time passes us by. Seems like only yesterday we had our first meeting and began the 2007 season of detecting. It truly has been a super year for our club. We grew in the number of members over last year, had a very successful Spring and Fall Hunts and even were the host club for the FMDAC National Convention. Throw in a wonderful time at Terry’s Free Hunt, some really awesome guest speakers at some of our meetings, many truly spectacular finds were exhibited each month for our Show & Tell contest and our December meeting and Christmas party was our best attended yet. More than fifty members and guests were present this year making it the best attended ever. Our meeting room was filled to the max. Several times I heard members say, where are we going to sit? Of course, we found room and I must say, having a very crowded meeting room is a very good problem to have for any club. It seems our annual Christmas meeting and party is the high lite of the year for many of our members. The December meeting and Christmas party was the best I can remember. Notice, I did say Christmas!! Thanks to all that brought gifts for our annual gift drawing exchange. It was a lot of fun with many exceptional items being exchanged. Thanks to Family Bowl Away for providing free soda and coffee and for doing a good job of getting everyone their meals in a timely manner, not an easy undertaking. A big thank you to those in attendance for your generosity in the giving of tips for the cooks and our waitress. The cooks were very surprised and commented that this was the first time they had ever received anything. I must say, the Christmas Spirit was running very high as usual. Thanks also to Clair Rowen for a wonderful prayer and blessing. Congratulations to our four Gold Coin winners and those that received a Morgan Dollar as a consolation prize. I always enjoy presenting the coins and watching the members open the envelopes in anticipation of winning a Gold Coin. The Christmas goodies brought by everyone were once again scrumptious to say the least.
THOUGHT
The coming of the New Year
Will give our Club yet another yearly start.
Any continued success we may have.
Will be governed by what is in each member's heart.
Best Wishes & God Bless,
Jack Barrett
