The End is Here !! Well, 2006 has come and gone. Suddenly, we find ourselves in a New Year. 2006 has been one of the best years in our clubs 30year history. We can only hope 2007 will be as good and I feel it will be. Our growth has been steady over the past few years with all of the support each one of you give us, I see no reason to expect anything less in 2007. Our club has been both, very active and loaded with new ideas and new things to try. Thanks to each member for your support and a special thanks to each member that has stepped up and either actively took on a project or fundraiser. Various members have came up with ideas, then followed up putting the time into making these ideas or projects work and then taking charge of them and seeing them through. This is very commendable and greatly appreciated. This coming year, we have volunteers to do a club history and scrapbook as well a volunteer to be the club photographer. Combine these with all the other members that help keep our club running by helping and doing virtually anything that is asked of them and its just plain awesome. I speak for myself and the rest of our officers and people in charge, Thanks everyone, for helping to lighten the load. Help in many clubs is often hard to find, but thanks to all of you, help is generally quite abundant in The Butler County Treasure Hunters and that goes a long way to keep those in charge, a lot fresher and ready to do the best we can. Working together as we do, the future of our club looks very bright and is a model that many other clubs can learn from.
Sometimes the smallest things such as helping to tidy the meeting room or sharing a great story or a helpful hint to others, may not seem like much, but I can assure you, these things do not go overlooked
I would mention some names but feel it is better not to as I am sure I would overlook someone. My wish for 2007 is that we can just keep on what we are doing, improve just a bit in some areas, and I am sure our success will continue.
Congratulations to all our winners at the Christmas Party. Everyone that attended was a winner, and that to me is really remarkable. It was great to see all the guests and what a joyous time we had. Thanks to all that brought food as well as donations. I do not believe anyone went home empty handed and I am sure many of us went home a couple pounds heavier. Well, I wish to extend my wishes to for a very prosperous and especially healthy New Year to each of you and your families. See you all this spring, and I do hope your next find is that one in a lifetime.
HAPPY NEW YEAR

The Clubs annual spring hunt is tentatively set for June 16, 2007. Please look around and see what you can find to donate to the free hunt. It should be anything made of metal or a token prize. We know this is a little early to think about donations, but finding things to donate seems to become harder every year.
Winter Has Finally Arrived
We are sitting here totally bored with nothing to do. I have just finished my four mile daily walk in the 20 degree snowy weather. Of course I forgot a scarf and that wind was in my face on the return trip so I almost had frostbite on my face but I only ended up with a little windburn.
Now is a good time to clean metal detecting equipment. I did a major cleanup on my detecting equipment. First went to the automotive place and got a can of Armor-All Cleaner wipes and a can of Armor-All protective spray.
I have found these to be quite easy to use for cleaning and protecting your detector, shafts and the control boxes. After taking a shotgun cleaning rod to brush out and clean the inside of the shafts I brush the outside corners and places where the wipes cannot reach. I use a bristle brush shaped like toothbrush and it gets in-between the speaker slots.
Next I remove the coil and bolting hardware to clean the coil. I purchased a “Mr.Clean Magic Eraser”. It is like a sponge but you wet it and squeeze out the water, than you scrub the coil with the white side, finishing the job with the blue side of the sponge.
My coils were yellow with age but after the Magic Eraser application they become as white as when they were new. Than wipe them down with a cloth full of Armor-All Protective Foam. Great stuff, try it, especially if you want to sell something on E-Bay.
I also wiped and protected my headphones. Since the cleaner is for plastic and leather goods it can be used without fear of damaging the surfaces.
Remove the batteries and add a little alcohol on a wipe to clean off the battery terminals and you are done with the detector.
Don’t forget to clean and sharpen your diggers and those competition knives, wash and hang your wet suits and waders and you are no ready for spring.
Don’t forget That Groundhog Day is coming in a few days. Jan and I will be up on gobblers Knob at 3:00am February 2nd, to root for Punxsutawney Phil to predict that Spring Is Right Around the Corner.
