TOTALLY AWESOME!! The July meeting was truly very special. The Show & Tell Contest and all the displays were nothing less than awesome, totally awesome. Terry’s display of nine gold rings and especially, the one with 45 diamonds was a showcase of what can be found, with the right equipment, knowledge of where to hunt and most of all, the experience and expertise to know what your machine is telling you. Oh did I forget dedication and many hours of searching also. I am wondering when his Jewelry store will open? I know Emlenton does not have one. His display along with the other monthly winner’s finds can be viewed on our website. All the displays were awesome in their own way and from an 1859O Half Dime as best coin to an 1845 Large Cent as oldest coin along with many other members great jewelry finds and unusual artifacts, the July Show & Tell has to rank as one of the best ever. Thanks to all that brought your finds and shared them,
Thanks to all the members that attended the meeting. It is a joy to be a part of this club and the meetings and hunts. The support each of you gives in whatever we try to do is heartwarming to say the least. With several issues needing to be resolved concerning money matters and our Fall Hunt, I am always inspired with the ease we handle important issues and the way we as a group can sometimes disagree on issues and yet still get things done and accomplish what is needed.
A recap of the meeting and issues can be found in this month’s minutes. Thanks to our officers for all you do also.
The Fall Hunt is sure to be another great time and our Hunt Chairmen, Terry and Vic will as usual, have a hunt planned full of innovative surprises. I hope everyone will consider a few businesses to approach and ask for coupons or any type of donations. Donation form letters will be available at the August meeting.
As more news on this Falls upcoming FMDAC Convention and Hunt is being made available and with our club being the host club, I urge as many of you that can attend, to do so. A good showing of our members will go a long way in allowing those in our hobby to see what our club is about and why we have had some success. I am sure that your help with anything needed, will be greatly appreciated. As we learn more information, it will be passed along but please try to keep November 2nd thru the 4th open. This is a rare opportunity and I am sure, will be a very significant time in our clubs history.
With summer going by so fast and with fall just around the corner, I wish you the best of finds and the time to pursue those finds. Best of luck and health to all

A PERSONAL RECORD
About the third weekend in July Terry Taylor, Joe Novosat and Harry Niemeyer decided to go on a quest for some silver and gold.
So they arose at the ungodly hour of 3:00 AM and proceeded to drive for several hours to a special site that was thought to contain many treasures.
Upon arriving and donning their wet suits, checking their waterproof watches, finding it was 5:30 AM and that was the time of the start of a beautiful day of water detecting.
Soon the sky was brilliant red with the glow of the sun rising in the east. There is nothing like watching the sun rise while waves are lapping around your chin and dreaming of treasures.
After several hours of detecting it was decided to move on to the next site. Terry had planned out a schedule of sites to visit that day and our time was limited unless there was a large sum of treasures being found.
We piled into the car wearing our wet suit with a few towels under us to keep the seats dry. Wet suits are extremely hard to remove and put back on when wet and time being of essence it was decided to travel wet
The day got warmer but the lake waters were still a bit chilly and the swimmers all seemed to be very young children with parents that did not enter the water. Did we stop for lunch you may ask? No! True water hunters do not stop for lunch. They take a sandwich or a Mountain Dew and consume it on the way to the next hunt site.
That day we were in several states, went to many lakes and detected in the water at the location of nine (9) different beaches.
A possible record for a one day hunt within our club membership.
Were there treasurers found??? Of course!!
Everything found is a treasure of sorts but not every find is silver or gold. The biggest treasure was three friends sharing a beautiful sunrise and leaving the last lake waters at 8:30 PM, happy and smiling.
Now with a total of about 15 hours of hunting plus travel time I found that to be pretty darn good for a 70 year plus kid.

DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER HOBBY???
Do you have another hobby or perhaps have traveled somewhere. Why not bring an object or display to the club meetings and take a few minutes to tell us of you hobby or trip.
It need not be something elaborate to show and it need not be a long speech to tell us about it.
I am sure most of us have some kind of enjoyable thing that we do besides metal detecting.
Perhaps you fly model airplanes or sail model boats on the lakes. Maybe you are a bee keeper or amateur taxidermist. It could be that you like photography and have several exciting photos that you can show us.
All you have to do is call Jack or Terry and I am sure there will be time set aside for your presentation.
Look at this as putting ice-cream on top of a cake.
