A New Season !! Hard to believe, a couple short months, winter is gone and a new detecting season is upon us. This winter has been a tough one, especially in the weather department. With all the snow and cold temperatures, I am sure few of you have found much detecting time this winter. In the past few years, we have been fortunate to have had some milder winters, but not this year. Jan and I had hoped to be in our winter home in Florida in early January. We finally made it in late February, but often , the best laid plans and intentions can go astray.
My sister in law in Maine suddenly became ill, and within a period of five weeks, passed away. Then some other health issues for us and our family, held us in Pa. for most of February. Thoughts of warm Florida temperatures, detecting and bike riding, had to be put on hold. Hey, we did finally get here and one thing that did hold true, was the warm weather in Florida. We did miss all of the snow that Pa. had to endure in March. We have not got to detect as much as we would like, but will do our best to get out as much as we can before we come north in late April. I have gotten to ride a fair amount which was much welcomed, especially after the accident last fall and my bike being in repair. It is like new, runs great and I wish I were as new and run as good.
We look forward to seeing everyone in May and a special thanks goes out to Terry, Jim and everyone else that does so much to keep our club running. It is nice to know all is in such good and capable hands. Hope you all can get out and swing that detector as much as possible and I hope your finds are many and valuable. Each find is valuable; as value is determined by how each one of us see value. Often, it is not what we find but how we find it and who we meet along the way.
THOUGHT
Make the most of every minute of every day,
Time is our most valuable asset.
Best Wishes & God Bless,
Jack Barrett
MARCH 2007 Meeting Minutes
OPENING
Terry Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M., followed by the pledge to the flag.
GREETING
Greetings to (I think) 34 members & 2 guests & also our newest member #517, Jonathon Weber, from Butler.

Jim Hindman read December's minutes and made a few comments on the Mental Health Association Outdoor Show at Butler Senior High School. Motion to accept was made by Boobie, seconded by Henry Thiel.
STRIP TICKET WINNER
After some discussion a vote was taken to raise the strip tickets to $2 each. Vic Kamer made the motion to raise the strip ticket price to $2, seconded by Andre LaStrapes. The monthly pay out will be $100. There will still be a 50 ticket minimum for the gold coin drawing in December.
WEBSITE
All the photos from the Outdoor Show at Butler High School are on the website. There are also two videos on the site for your viewing pleasure. Lets see if we can get more input on the forum. Now that we're into a new year, maybe we can all stay in touch with postings about our finds & photos of this great hobby. With more postings anyone visiting the site will have more to see than just blank space & year old comments. A big thanks to Boobie & Pete for maintaining & updating this site.

Andre Donated a Silver Eagle for a prize at the Spring Hunt--THANKS ANDRE!
$42 was donated for the Silver Round drawing--winner Don Young.

MOTION TO ADJOURN
At 9:15, Bob Brown made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Andre LaStrapes
Moraine Angler / Outdoor Adventure Show
Was held at the Butler High School by the Butler County Mental Health and It just happened to coincide with the worst weather we could have had. The weather kept many people away on Sunday but we managed to be well represented at the show.
There were several possible new members inquiring about our hobby and club. We had two tables setup and a swimming pool full of wood chips in which Terry had a great time working with the kids.
The first afternoon and evening there was a terrific ice storm which resulted in several of us being asked to stay home due to the dangerous road conditions.
We wish to thank Terry Taylor, Harry Niemeyer, Jim Hindman, Perry Smyda, Boobie, Vic Kamer, Paul Kramer, Tom McCarthy, Bruce & Connie Dixon for their help and donations to make this a successful event
Annual Spring Hunt
The Clubs annual spring hunt is tentatively set for June 16, 2007. Please look around and see what you can find to donate to the clubs Spring Hunt.
Lets not forget Terry’s Annual Free Hunt held up on the hill, in the woods, after the Spring Hunt and lunch break. Terry’s Annual free Hunt is something that Terry enjoys doing for the club.
We know this is a little early to think about donations, but finding things to donate seems to become harder every year. It should be anything made of metal or a token prize. You can bring the donations for both hunts to the meetings or to the hunts.
Moraine State Park
Joy and Tom, volunteers from Moraine State Park were guests at the March meeting. They were asking our club to volunteer to go with GEO Cashers to locate boundary markers for the Park.
Anyone interested should plan to meet on April 29th---9:00 A.M.-4:00 or 4:30 P.M. at McDaniel's Launch, North Shore--RAIN OR SHINE. Food & beverage will be provided afterwards.
Water Hunting Season is Here
Boobie and I went checking the lake levels and conditions. While detecting a beach I found a 14k gold earring. Yep It has started,
Now is the time to check your equipment. Make sure your detector was cleaned before winter. Check the terminals and Install batteries.
Make sure you apply the silicon sealer correctly.
Clean your scoops and make sure your water pouch does not have any tears or large holes in it.
You can check your wet suits and boots for leaks. Don’t forget them chest waders and make sure you have a belt to go around your chest so if you take a dunking you will not fill up with water.
Those web type military slide buckle belts are very good for this. They can be gotten at an Army/Navy store for 3-4 bucks. They are very long and can be trimmed in length.
Mid-Atlantic Chapter Hunt
The MAECC hunt will be held October 28th, 2007,
at the Carlisle Convention / Expo Center, in conjunction with the GPAA Gold Show. For more information contact Chapter President –Vic Kamer

Next Meeting Speaker

He will be bringing some of his bottle collection and talk about the hobby of collecting bottles.
